This stunning remastered A3 print of the iconic recruitment poster for the 17th (Service) Battalion, Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment), the famous Footballers’ Battalion, is now available priced £10 with free postage on the Football and the First World War Buy Me a Coffee page.
Raised in December 1914, the battalion was at the forefront of football’s contribution to the war effort during the Great War and fought in some of its bloodiest engagements. Recruitment was so popular that a second Football Battalion was formed in May 1915 and both units proved their worth on the battlefields of France and Flanders.
The print has been digitally restored and is produced on premium A3 150gsm paper with a satin finish. Each print is hand-wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and dispatched in an A3 protective poster tube.
